'Assistant de Vacances' service started in 2006, in response to client feedback. Your housekeeper, helper, organiser & fixer. Maybe you want a 'grown-ups' night out in a good restaurant? You want a break from cooking yet another childrens’ tea? A couple of the kids want surf lessons but you'd like someone to book the best surf school? How about a Basque meal in using local ingredients, but you don’t have a recipe or the time? And definitely someone to take on shopping, sweeping and mopping duties! That’s where the “Assistant de Vacances” comes in - someone local, friendly and available. Why do we offer it? Because the family self-catering market is changing. Ten years ago, self-catering meant just that: you catered for yourself – cooking, cleaning, shopping, bed-making and the rest. Nowadays families still love the independence of their own villa and living like the French do for a week or two, but with ever busier lives they expect more from their holiday, and are increasingly intolerant of the amount of work that can go with renting. It's a service that has been developed having listened to the types of comments clients are making to us about their self-catering holiday needs. Who is it for? 'Concierge' villas have been around for a while but they're really only available to the super-rich; we do offer a couple of villa in this category, which we call Villas de Luxe. The services provided by the Assistant de Vacances are much more attainable and relevant to the needs of families and larger groups of self-caterers in particular. Where is it available? Currently at two of our most popular villas, Domaine d'Orx ref 148 and Le Luc ref 043. You can find out more details on these two properties by clicking on one of the photographs to the right. We are using these two villas because the services covered by the Assistant de Vacances are often requested here, and at each property there is a well-connected local 'caretaker' groomed for the role. We'll be adding the service to other properties in the coming weeks and months. What does it include & how does it work? How much does it cost? Please check the Assistant de Vacances Menu for prices. How do I book & pay for it? It’s easy and reliable. Via Alternative Aquitaine, clients pre-book from the owner’s menu of Assistant de Vacances services. We can do this for you although it's often better for you to talk directly with the Assistant de Vacances to plan what you need - it's a good way too of getting to know each other before you arrive. You can always 'top-up' with a few more extras when you're there. The services are then paid for locally in euros.
